In the terminal, there is a ring-bound booklet describing this airplane's history. I can't recall many of the details, but it was a luxury transport in its early days, then made Hollywood movies, and ended up hauling skydivers. They were grand old machines. I got a flight in the USAF version in the early 1950s. Sorry to hear about your uncle. I lost a few friends to such mishaps, as well.
