both times i had the unit go into data protection mode were with zero 
warning on disks--one disk each time (different bay) just blinked out

if i had been warned on disks, i would have thought everything was 
performing properly

the episodes came in the first three or four days of use of the new box

i agree that tech help from drobo is VERY good and helpful
