Doug,
Very nice captures. Both nicely rendered.

Subject: [Leica] IMG: Hermit Warbler

Last weekend I visited San Diego county in southern California where after
an hour or so of fruitless hiking in the desert I returned to the trailhead
and found a micro-flock of Hermit Warblers in the bush across the road from
the car.

Hermit Warblers spend winters in Mexico and summers in the western mountains
from southern California to Washington state, generally in the tops of
conifers. During migration they have to cross the lowlands and when
crossing the deserts an oasis such as Agua Caliente county park draws them
to water. This micro-flock of 4 or 5 birds (hard to count them, they move
quickly and hide in the bushes) was intent on foraging for arthropods so I
waited an hour until I turned into background scenery & the birds hardly
paid attention to me.

technical stuff: R8/DMR, 280mm f/4 APO-Telyt-R, 1.4x APO-Extender-R, monopod
& shoulder stock. All comments welcome.
