In truth the BW ones are there as a gentle poke at the LUG where anything BW is sometimes automatically elevated to be superior ;-) To be serious on that, personally if I plan for a BW photo it would normally be where I see some interesting tonal variety and light modelling on the subject. For examples : http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman/image/142411362 http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman/image/149975028 That rather than just convert something for the sake of it becoming a "classic" style photo, if that makes sense. Alternate reason might be where I want to salvage something where I can't deal with unpleasant colour/ mixed light ;-) For me it does fit some genres, but generally I see in colour and love colourful life and people as they are.
