Is 4GB the max for that config?  I wonder if you're using it all or
not.

Start Lightroom and fiddle around a bit (look at some images, etc...).

Then open the Utilities folder (Finder => Go => Utilities) and start
the Activity Monitor.  Click on the System Memory button down near the
bottom and see whether you have any free (the green part of the pie
chart).  If you have some free, you're not memory limited.  If you
don't have any free you'll probably benefit from adding more.
