Contax IIIa, Nikkor 85/2 in ?C? focus, Fuji Acros

And a story, otherwise known as never be a wiseass: yesterday I attended a
used camera show (one of the itinerant Photorama shows), with the intention
of blowing the five buck admission, seeing a few friends, and leaving empty
handed as usual. The usual refrain for these shows is ?nobody comes
anymore, and remember when these were five or six ballrooms filled with
tables?? I was ?wearing? my Contax IIIa, since I intended to go to another
photo-worthy event immediately following the show. At the first dealer?s
stand, I was asked if I were selling the Contax. I said no, and that it
was loaded with film and ready to roll. He then asked if I was looking for
anything, so I replied, ?Yeah?do you have the Nikkor 105/2.5 in ?C?
focus?? This lens was fairly standard for the RF Nikon, a little unusual
in LTM, and scarce as hen?s teeth in Contax focus (I?ve seen exactly one on
RFF in the past five or six years). I figured that would end the
conversation.

He looked at me, a bit amazed, and said, ?Yes?I just found one this past
week, in gorgeous condition.? It was, and dammit I bought it, along with
an equally gorgeous 35/2.5. Cost me a lot more than five bucks for being a
wiseass. Next stop is a TEWUE or Nikor varifocal finder, since my Russian
Contax-manque turret finder is a bit week on the 105 focal length.
