Hi Paul,
Encourage yer buddy to get the ME! Then tell him don't read all the  techie 
crap unless he happens to enjoy all that stuff. :-) But if he does he may go 
blind! ;-) 

Put a new battery in,  new card and off to shoot whatever delights his eye 
and soul and turns him on! Then go out and do it a hundred times more!! And 
screw all the tech crap!

Enjoy the camera for the cameras' sake, think only about capturing magical 
moments and bingo he will be a LEICA HOOKED PHOTOGRAPHER. Like the rest of 
us. Me? Every working day of the year for 50 years and probably the better 
chunk of the earlier 15  years while using a number of types from Speed 
Graphics, Canon, Nikon, Rollie, full set of Hasselblads and a few others 
thrown in while shooting on assignment for a client in doing so.Some where 
in the world!

Eventually he'll be so happy, his economic good fortune may change that he 
can upgraded version some day. And he's off to the races again.

And surely don't let him near reading the bullsh...t! crap from the wickhead 
who posted the blog story post >>>>

This guy should be tarred and feathered while a bunch of Leica using  
shooters stood there and captured every exciting moment.
