One more before I quit for the day.  The pig belongs to the whole community.
When he is slaughtered, they will all have fresh pork for a few days and
hang strips of meat above the adobe stove to dry and use to flavor beans.
This is a Lenca community, the largest indigenous group in Honduras.  The
Lenca own land communally and share the work and the crops.
 They are Catholic but have no priests, only Delegates of the Word.  Most
adults are illiterate but the children go to school through the 6th grade.
