I would agree that if you want to do portraits, wide-angle lenses aren't the 
glass of choice.

I don't shoot portraits. I like photos of people in context, in their 
environment.?

Arnold Newman is the master of combining portrait with the subject in 
context--at least in my opinion.
Others may disagree.

What type of lenses did he use??
