Subject: [Leica] a "pro-hobbyist" evaluates an M9 . . . ICK

I knew a guy who felt that tilts were going to eliminate the dreaded tripod
from his workflo a gorgeous 1000 dollar resin Gitzo he owned he could not
bear the thought of actually using.
In reality using a tripod is a dream not a bear. Its not a craw in your back
it does not slow you down or cramp your style to a crawl. A tripod is the
great enabler. The great facilitator.
Once you've got your camera on your tripod and you're out there you realize
you don't die. You can concentrate and have fun doing what you feel is great
work.
I loved using tripods when they were cold heavy aluminum and the heads were
awkward ponderous Pan & Tilt Heads.
Now the heads are fast and excellent ball heads from all over Europe and the
tripods are friendly and light resin. They are a dream to use.
The trick is to put the camera on the tripod and just get out there.
