The coin is 30 mm diameter, 17 gm mass, struck about 250 BC

Eumenes I portrait on the obverse, Athena on the reverse.

Athena is wearing a Corinthian helmet, holding a spear, and a shield
with a Medusa head whose view will turn one to stone. There is a bow
behind her, just in case. The sphinx is on the rear of Athena's throne,
facing the inscription, and sets the scale of the design, as it has the
body of a lion, and was no small house pet, and not friendly.

The inscription ??????????, of Philaetarius, refers to Eumenes's
father's brother, founder of the Attalid dynasty.

comments, etc welcome.

John
