I am not sure of the weight, but it seems much less than the D800E and a
couple of f2.8 zooms. In fact, when I got the D800E out this week I had
forgotten how bulky and heavy it seems! There again, I have only taken it
off my property a couple of times as my lenses (other than 100mm APO Macro
and Nikkor 180mm) sort of duplicate my M lenses but mostly aren't as good
;-) I am settled on digital Ms for my (current) needs.....

I understand your points, but I would hate having to carry 2 bodies and 6
lenses on such a trip.
A sturdy body and two zoom lenses cover all my needs.

D800E: Have you ever tried your luck on moving subjects ;-)
