I have no problem of "shooting as testing."

Only issue is that this weekend, I am going to wander in the high desert,
looking for Sky Rock. It may be a hike of 4-6 miles.

Did I say it's high desert and perhaps heat wave? and that I will have to
climb rocks?

It would be prudent to make sure that whatever gears I bring, it will work
to the best of my ability. Don't you think?

(yes, the M9 will be in the pack. The question is, what else do I bring)
