I take these things hand held with various lenses, and have gone up to 15-20 shots - they don't always work out (shooting hand held is notoriously inexact), but enough do. Some can be printed, others are just for viewing online because the dimensions go out of whack! All that I do is go into manual mode for both focus and exposure, set the focus and exposure, and twist around my waist, staying as erect and perpendicular to the ground as possible. I am planning to get the requisite kit to take them on a tripod soon: 16-35mm set at 35mm: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/Panoramas/Svalbard/P1BWF.jpg.html 85mm prime: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/Panoramas/Thaipusam.jpg.html 70-200 set at 85mm: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/Panoramas/Svalbard/P13BWF.jpg.html 70-200 set at 90mm: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/Panoramas/Svalbard/P18BWF.jpg.html Fuji 18mm f2 prime: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/Panoramas/Ranthambhore/Semli-PanoramaP.jpg.html Panasonic 20mm f1.7 prime: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/jayanand/Panoramas/StAndrews.jpg.html Cheers Jayanand On Fri, Aug 3, 2012 at 9:19 AM, John McMaster <john at mcmaster.co.nz> wrote: > Not always, I usually use a 35mm or 50mm but this was taken with a 28mm in > portrait.... > > http://www.johnmcmaster.com/PESO/Panoramas/OrientalBay2.jpg > > john > ________________________________________ > From: lug-bounces+john=chiaroscuro.co.nz at > leica-users.org[lug-bounces+john= > chiaroscuro.co.nz at leica-users.org] on behalf of Robert Rose [ > robert.rose at mac.com] > > > I have had best success with a 50mm lens, using an M9, or a 35mm on an M8. > There is no need for anything wider, as that only introduces edge effects > that make stitching harder.
