I have an F3, an F3HP, and F4 and an R8. I agree on the finder
brightness, specifically that the R8 is better than the Nikons. For
focus snap, none is as good as the Leicaflex SL or the Contax Aria.
Technology moves on, but the biggest influence is implementation and
purpose. The brightness and snap of a Leicaflex SL viewfinder in good
condition still astounds me, despite all examples now being 38+ years
old.
