Tina,

RFF has a lot of members who use made-up names and criticize others' work
without themselves posting a single photo, or a link to their website, or
anything that would show they have even the most minimal qualifications
for us to give a crap what they think. Many of them claim to have big-time
jobs in the photo world, but refuse to give their names (translation: a 19
yr old kid jerking off in mommy's basement while trying to fool real
photographers into thinking he's somebody). The internet is full of losers
like that. There's one on RFF who likes to stalk my posts and put down my
work, while claiming to have a long career as a professional photographer
and art director. Of course, he refuses to prove it.

My feeling is that anyone who refuses to give his/her real name online is
by default an asshole and a coward, unworthy of any respect. Some people
on RFF think I'm a dick, but at least they know who the dick is who pissed
them off. I use my real name and show my work, so people can make their
own decision as to what importance should be attached to my opinions.

RFF does have a lot of really talented photographers who do show their
work and tell their names. Many of them are professional artists,
photojournalists, or commercial photographers. The best way to get
critiques of your work is to start a thread about your work in the Salon
forum on RFF. A lot of people look at that, and the posts show on the
site's front page. Posts in RFF's gallery are often ignored for years
before someone comments on them, because the gallery posts do not show on
the homepage in real time as they are posted, like threads in the various
forums on RFF do.

So..start a thread in the Salon forum and ignore the cowardly
trolls...you'll get some good feedback.
