Most digital cameras use sensors made by other companies. Sony makes
sensors for a lot of Japanese digital cameras. Canon makes their own SLR
sensors but buys small point-n-shoot camera sensors from others. Nikon has
used Sony sensors in most of their SLRs, and they've designed some of
their own, which some internet sources say are made for them by Sony. Sony
makes sensors for their own cameras, for Pentax, and for at least some
Nikons.
