With the X100 I cannot usually move the camera to my eye and shoot straight
away, it takes time to focus and the camera is often moved (or subject has)
before the shutter releases...

Sorry - two possible interpretations of the same question.

Shooting for the first time I missed a couple of shots early on but I think
that was more to do with having the right pressure on the button and/or the
lens not being in focus because I was unclear about the focus spot.
certainly my first few frames were out of focus which I am 100% sure was
operator error. Once I had gotten used to things a bit more there was a very
limited amount of shutter lag, nothing which bothered me. Please bear in
mind I have only taken about 40+ shots, and I was under a bit of pressure at
the time, so I was not paying too much attention to camera niceties.
