I think a large part depends on the type of photography too. For people
like Bob, small details matter because everyone else is using 40 MP and up
back in that arena. It's the tripod thing - to be competitive, you really
want to put your camera on a tripod, and once you do that, then it's pretty
similar in terms of time commitment to set it up whether it's a 5x4, an
Alpa, or an S2.

For documentary work, content is king.
