Get yourself one of the wireless units from Wizard or Pro Photo, and there
are others. This works very well and allows you to move things around with
out worrying about breaking connections.

Subject: [Leica] M9 and Strobes - Question

I am planning a series of portraits using my M9 and am wrestling with
lighting. My preference would be to use some large, inexpensive stobes
(Flashpoint: Adorama's in-store brand) with soft boxes. I am a little
leary though about hooking up the M9's delicate innards directly to these
honking strobes without some sort of plan to protect the camera. I do
have a Wein safe-synch kicking around somewhere, but am interested in other
options. Anyone use a radio control that is less expensive than a pocket
wizard?
