The high-end video/compositing still find a need for the grunt of two 4 or 6 
core CPUs for rendering. Apple bought/designed some of the best software for 
that (Shake and Final Cut Pro - until latest version!) I have 4 internal 
disks (OS+binaries, RAID 0 (scratch/temp), VMs)  and an eSATA RAID5 (data) 
on my Pro which an iMac is unable to do ;-) Will wait and see what 
ThunderBolt peripherals come out rather than USB3....

Touchscreen is an interesting one; precision is one issue, another one is 
that the screen will likely have to be nearer horizontal so that your arms 
get support while working ;-)

i think you are right mostly

most "experts" are satisfied with the computing power of the iMacs now

thunderbolt promises to offer enough speed and adaptability to replace 
internal cards and drives

my expectation is a touchscreen iMac to go with laptops and iPads
