Alastair,

I know what you are saying and am also leaning toward Nikon heavily. I am
waiting to see what Nikon announces later this month, before I make the
plunge. However the R8DMR will still keep its place until it dies,
hopefully far in the future.

Gene, as you know, I ached for months trying to decide on a path to
follow. Sony was high on my list because of the IS in the body. It would
make all my L lenses IS, and for me that would be great. Sony's
understanding of photography just does not seem to be as good as Nikon's.
Somehow they don't get quite as much out of the same sensor, and of course
your choice of Glass is more limited.

Sony are big enough to survive, but I also worried that their heart was
not completely 'in it'. ie no new developments for a couple of years etc.
Oly are in the same boat: its sinking and I did not want to have to change
systems just because the company pulled out of SLR's again, so despite
myself it was N or C with P and S just missing out and O almost out of the
game.

Alastair
