Have you guys lost sight of the forest for the trees? Don't forget that the
purpose of a camera lens is to make a pleasing picture, not look good on an
MTF diagram or produce the last micron of resolution on a film or sensor. I
find Lluis's pictures made with the nickel plated Elmar perfectly
satisfactory. Even on a 20" Apple monitor. Who cares if they were made with
an 80 year old lens or the bottom of a broken Coke bottle. Photographers who
make mural sized photos from 35mm negatives or those who do aerial
reconnaissance might disagree but for those of us in the real world the age
of Leica glass is almost irrelevant.
