I did see a lot of pheasants and some unusual bird calls. Keep an eye on the Golden Trout Camp website as they take signups on a first come/first serve. It's a great deal: Sunday through Saturday for $500 with meals, "lodging" and trail guides included. They have stopped allowing folks to go off on their own. Required party of at least 3. They've had some unsettling experiences lately with losing individuals. Actually, on this trip, we had to do a lot of off trail walking as there were still snow banks along the trails. A group of horse riders, not part of the Camp, tried to go over one of the banks and a horse fell through to the underlying water. Trampled and killed the rider; quite horrid. So dangerous country, as you know, if you don't know what you're doing. I basically stayed with groups or stayed put in a known area alone with the leader's permission. Easy to get lost or injured.
