I do a lot of research in addition to my photo hobby, so some years ago 
I bit the bullet and had computer glasses made.  The top part is 
optimized for the monitor, and the bottom bifocal part is so I can work 
with stuff on my desk.   It is a PITA to carry around two pair of 
glasses, but so far no other solution as good.
