Judging from the women I knew in Iran who wore full length chadors, it's
both.  They are stunningly beautiful when young, but don't age well, so they
stay covered all the time!  The young Iranian women wore the latest Paris
fashions and lots of heavy make-up  and jewelry under those chadors.
