Here are a few photos from Stockyards City in Oklahoma City, originally
known as "Packing Town" decades ago. Very little has changed there over
the decades. One of my favorite photos, if I can ever find the neg, was
of its deserted main street on a Christmas day, when there was blowing
snow - I kept thinking of "The Last Picture Show". If you happen to
visit, Cattlemen's Steak House is a must stop. Some years ago
management decided to keep set hours instead of being open 24 hours, but
no one could find a key. It is the only place in town still serving
calf brains and eggs for breakfast, though I no longer eat that because
of lingering doubts about the mad cow thing. They do have the best lamb
fries in town.

This was something new, so I asked my wife about Cruel Girl jeans -
evidently you have to be pretty petite. I thought about Steve Martin's
routine on the "cruel shoes".

That sign has probably been there for 40 years. I don't think anyone is
going to correct the owner on spelling.

C&C welcome as always.
