Out of a population of around 1000 (employees and contractors), about 80 expressed an interest, and in the first week of operation about 30 have actually paid membership dues, which is a very good result for a newly started club. I am the treasurer. Last night we had our first event, a "tertulia" on photography. Tertulia is a Spanish word that is difficult to translate; two of Google's suggestions, "roundtable" or "bull session" are not bad but not 100% accurate. In any event, we were 26 people in a small bar which we had to ourselves, four of us made a presentation and we had a good discussion about various aspects of photography (discussion is an important element in a tertulia). Here is Philippa making a presentation about traditional film photography, her passion: http://www.greatpix.eu/Other/Picture-A-Day/4253606_netUM#1094224625_izqGi-O-LB And here is part of the crowd: http://www.greatpix.eu/Other/Picture-A-Day/4253606_netUM#1094224592_MBrzT-O-LB The girl in the foreground is Romanian, the two people in the background are Greek and Spanish/Belgian, respectively. Typical for our office.
