These days I'm pole apart from Neocon Thought. But in retrospect, it seemed that Goldwater had a brain in his head, was capable of independent thought and was not (perhaps only in my view), a mean-spirited man. And it was he who was asked to take the long walk to Nixon's office and tell him it was over. And remember, I was a young Marine attached to an Amphibious Task Force en route to the Mediterranean. So of course it would be Goldwater. Today, I want to pull the plug on Afghanistan so fast it would draw an current arc the size or Rhode Island. We get older, we see things differently.
