Although they won't meter, the AIS lenses will WORK. And getting AI lenses 
converted to AIS is not difficult. I think Nikon's refusal to evolve their 
hardware is probably their biggest selling point with many pros. My joy at 
still being able to use my MF 300 f2.8 is vast......

(Metering is overrated on digital bodies anyway. I rarely if ever use it. i 
start with a guess and adjust through histogram, I suspect most luggers are 
the same way.)
