People actually think the ultra high contrast of Zeiss for Hasselblad glass has a down side it so good. It's embarrassing. Trust me. You look at the specs of a lens and you want the highest resolution and contrast you can get. Sounds like you agree. Its easy to get less contrast with film controls and easier with digital a real no brainer. And low contrast glass gains you nothing. Not latitude. Not nothing; nohow. Pentax 645 glass is real ok stuff. - a lot more than you'd expect for a couple of hundred bucks most of it cost. The specs: resolution and especially contrast are lower than Zeiss for Hasselblad and other stuff. Guess what? THAT'S NOT A GOOD THING!! IN ANY WAY!! (I know you knew that) But there are all kinds of --- who say it somehow is. And they have the internet to spread the word. Here's what's going to happen: (doing my Donald Trump) Salgato is going to get the S2 system is its obviously the best system for his needs and its not like he can't afford it. He's going to love it; Everything about it. Including the contrast as hopefully hell glass with the highest specs in every optical parameter. A heck of a lot better than the EOS he used to use. And he's not going to bother trying to soften the glass with Tiffin low contrast filter baloney. You read it here first. But can he ride a horse? The Pentax 645 is a handy system. Huge format / per size of camera body ratio. I'd have loved to have used it in the 90's for some stuff. 16 or 32 on a roll just as handy as a 35 but will blow them out of the water because of many times the acreage. But glass nothing to bring home to meet mom. Very above average. -------------------- Mark William Rabiner Photography mark at rabinergroup.com > From: Richard Man <richard at imagecraft.com> > Reply-To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> > Date: Tue, 21 Sep 2010 23:32:50 -0700 > To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> > Subject: Re: [Leica] Salgado S2 > > He said that he likes the Pentax 645 system because the lens were low > contrast and he looked for that in his Leica and Canon gears.
