I assume the Drobo or Ready NAS, has adequate protection against the failure of one or two drives. My question was about the failure of the NAS box. If the NAS box fails, but the drives check out as good, can the drives just be plugged into another sample of the same model NAS box to get the system up and running? Also, what happens if the particular NAS is no longer made. Will the drives function in a different model from the same manufacturer? With Drobo, the link Jayanand posted indicated forward compatibility. I'd like to know how the ReadyNAS would function in the same scenario. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank Filippone" <red735i at earthlink.net> To: "'Leica Users Group'" <lug at leica-users.org> Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 2010 9:56 AM Subject: Re: [Leica] Anyone using Drobo >I think there are 2 different objectives here.... > > First, pick the right drives.....
