I replaced it with a 2T drive and never lost anything. Mine has 3 1T and 1 2T drives so I still have plenty of room for expansion. It's about 3/4 full now. I do keep it backed up with Acronis on another WD hard drive. It's super easy to use and makes no noise at all.
