Subject: [Leica] a shot in the dark - life at iso 25600

I use slow zooms as I cant hack the Yuban coffee can footprint on my torso
that a 2.8 makes.
Tonight on my D40 x I had a 12-24 f4 Nikkor I may go out again.
A third the size of a 2.8 for full frame.
Normally I have a 24mm 2.8 on it which is a third that size and weight of
the 12-24 f4 Nikkor.
I carry it in a SlingShot 100 AW Lowepro
http://products.lowepro.com/product/SlingShot-100-AW,2034,4.htm

But to me f 4 is not a slow zoom.
A 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 Nikkor is slow.
But about the same size as a 24 or 28 or 35mm 2.8.
And lighter even.
And at iso 1600 this shooting into dark alleys that I can not see into.
The first time I see it its appearing on the back of the camera.
