That's the pose.  Cats just do it instictively in a lot of situations.
 Muffin sounds like an ideal patient.  The cats to watch out for are
the ones that prowl around the table and look relatively calm, but
take your hand off when you go to touch them.

My wife is allergic to cats, to the point where she nsneezes if I
visit a friend who has a cat and then come home.  So no cats for me.
