The last several years I had my darkroom I didn't use it. The good thing about C41 is its in and out in a half an hour dry to dry and its real hard for those people to mess up. I'm talking about someone else doing it like in a mall while I read Mad magazine at the soda fountain drinking a cherry coke with vanilla. Xtol 1:3 or Rodinal at 1:75 are great developers if you've got your times right and you don't mess up your agitation and your themomotor is not out of whack and your rapid fix did not die but I'll take Pro 800 any day Kodak or Fuji. Just like when you deal with a digital capture you have RGB to deal with. Not just one channel. So I can filter later not ahead of time. And decide later just which filter makes the pic look the best in black and white. Or leave it in color. Which I do more and more. Black and white has great gravitas but color is just too much fun. The Research and development (R&D) on color neg film in the 80's and 90's was 100/1 over chrome and black and white films I bet. The 800 films today have the grain and sharpness of the 200 films of the day before yesterdays And color neg films have the tonal latitude of nicely developed black and white films. That compared to a stop in each direction for slide films which are many f stops slower.. No no more slides for me or black and white I'm a three channel color neg guy whenever I shoot film for now on. No more 50 cents a click for bracketed chromes. -------------------- Mark William Rabiner Photography mark at rabinergroup.com > From: Kyle Cassidy <kcassidy at asc.upenn.edu> > Reply-To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> > Date: Sun, 15 Aug 2010 13:57:59 -0400 > To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> > Subject: [Leica] someone want to sell me a developing tank & 120 reels? > > I'd best post this now while the bad idea is still fresh in my head.
