So they would have to design something from scratch, and they can't afford to do that. The S2 is different, it's a new system with new lens. The most sensible solution is to partner with someone like Sony and modify the mount. There are rumors that Sony is getting out of full frame sensor market due to lack of sales, and this may jumpstart it. Not likely though with the Japan camera politic et al.
