You shouldn't believe everything you read. When it comes to trade barriers 
to food production imports 99% of the reason forsuch bans or reduced quotas 
is political.
 
I avoid consumption of most meat raised in the US, as both beef cattle and 
chicken, are fed far too much corn in their diets and there are far too many 
feedlots fattening cattle run by large corporations rather then family farms.
 
Best to buy local and visit the farm if you can that raises the food you buy.
