the photography qualifies as very fine.

the shot of the carcass with the fellows arms around it and holding the 
knives 
and the shot of the fellow holding the head of a steer
appear very staged along side the other 8.

Personally I put those two shots in the category of environmental 
portraiture.
Others may consider them outside the realm of "documentary."
