These work just fine and are very durable. The included long wire antenna ain't so bad. Try it first. Then go ahead with the big outdoor one if you need better reception. Be sure to use porcelain insulators to isolate the actual antenna wire between the physical connections point and the actual connection to the radio. You'll need a RJ to plug adaptor. Bring the factory-supplied plug with you and hopefully the Radio Shack or Fry's person will be able to fix you up with the correct RJ to Sony connector. Have fun.
