For what it's worth, I attended the Leica M9 Roadshow in Toronto this past 
Thursday. The subject of shooting with the 9 in compression or not came up 
and most of the shooters using M9's including Justin Stailey said they shoot 
the M9 in compressed mode. Reason was the camera works faster for their 
purposes, street photography, wedding work etc. Less information for the 
camera to move around and said until an engineer comes up with something 
different they would stay with compressed. Apparently most had done 
comparison tests and could not come up with any real negatives between for 
using in terms of quality being less.
