I've ordered Helmut Debelius' excellent guide to these riotously colorful
creatures; until that arrives I can't identify them. I do know that these
slugs have evolved away from shells for protection and rely on chemical
warfare for defense. They can be extremely bad to the taste in some cases
and outright toxic in others. Many I photographed on this trip were paired,
which leads me to believe that the mating season was on for some species.
The frilly appendages are the animals' gills. More than just photographing
marine life, I am interested in learning more about the animals themselves.

A few fish to follow- thanks for looking,

Wendy
