film M/R, the answer is no.

But $3K for a superb scanner, .....?  Maybe

Film+scanner is not a substitue for M or R digital (and vice versa).

Best for me is the R8 with DMR.  The backup R8/DMR I bought last year was
the same $3K as the scanner.
