>/ Whatever the origin of the pictures, they do illustrate the terrifying

All things considered the attack at Pearl Harbor didn't do a great deal to
impede the US war effort, our carriers were untouched, of the eight
battleships that were there 4 were back in service within three months, the
Arizona and the Oklahoma were the only two that were complete losses. I
believe only two destroyers were never to see service again.
Interestingly the one photo of the large explosion with flaming pieces
flying through the air is the destroyer USS Shaw which was repaired and did
see service in the war. Also the first shot of the battle of Pearl Harbor
was fired by the USS Ward when she sank one of the Japanese mini subs. BTW
our newest and best Battleships, the USS North Carolina
and the USS Washington were both in the Atlantic waiting for the German
battleship Tirpitz to come out, which it never did.
