Rolex offer mid-price watches that are ideal for causal use, I wear them at work - a relative rough ER where contact with bodily fluids is common. I dip my Rolex in an anti-septic bath after each shift at work. I would not wear a Patek to work, they are way too fragile. Rolex are not fine watches by any standard, but for their intended purposes they are OK - namely durability, reliability and water resistance. Ease of service is another plus, not to mention they are like currencies - they can readily offload a Rolex for instant cash. Another brand that is little known but extremely high quality is Grand Seiko (as opposed to Seiko). Extremely well made, very accurate (36,000 bps), and finely polished. Miles ahead of any Rolex, at sub-Rolex money.
