After trying a number of fixes and talking to leica company tech they determine sd dock in camera is defective. Requires 2-3 weeks at leica (no cost) but this has discouraged me from staying with an M8 (and Leica in general). What will be next to break? Too many horror stories. So back it goes to dealer for full refund. Unfortunately I sold my film M to fund the M8 and am using my Canon FD gear when in the mood for film. So I will use the 25OO refund for an Omega Seamaster or custom-shop Kimber. Goodbye Leica. Firmware may be old and, if I remember correctly, the old firmware didn't support SDHC cards... Just came today and I can't get it to work. Charged battery for a few hours and tried three SD cards including a new 4G one. When I turn it on with the card installed, the red light on the back comes on and I get an "SD" in the rangefinder window. Menu doesn't respond so can't try to reformat card. Anyone have an idea what might fix it? I hate to send it back if there is some way to make it work. If it has to go back, as far as I am concerned they can refund my money, as this is BS on a camera which supposedly was checked out by Leica. Thanks!
