If this gives you results ( at all) then you use the smaller card to update the firmware to the most latest... then it should be fine to use with your larger cards ( above 2 GB). You get the current FW on line at the service location of Leica USA. There are also instructions, which you should download first. There is some SW or FW difference in SD cards that are HC ( high capacity ) and not. Yes, you are correct, it should have come to you already upgraded with the current firmware...... Frank Filippone red735i at earthlink.net Do you have a non-hc card? Firmware may be old and, if I remember correctly, the old firmware didn't support SDHC cards... Bob Adler Palo Alto, CA http://www.rgaphoto.com After scrimping and saving I finally bought a demo M8 from an authorized online dealer. Just came today and I can't get it to work. Charged battery for a few hours and tried three SD cards including a new 4G one. When I turn it on with the card installed, the red light on the back comes on and I get an "SD" in the rangefinder window. Menu doesn't respond so can't try to reformat card. Anyone have an idea what might fix it? I hate to send it back if there is some way to make it work. If it has to go back, as far as I am concerned they can refund my money, as this is BS on a camera which supposedly was checked out by Leica. Thanks!
