i don't know, if i ask a guard, all they say is "copyright"--but i never 
understood how non-sale, family use where the art is incidental to the photo 
could violate

i think they are just trying to boost the souvenir shop

it can be a very unfriendly place if you don't fit their picture of an art 
lover.

i remember coming in one day during one big exhibition and being hit with 
one of those snide what-are-you-doing-here "May I help you?" greetings

it's too bad the other state museums here are very friendly, welcoming 
places.
