As for thefts, there are a lot more people wandering around my community with $5,000 wrist watches and $100,000 cars than Leicas, and the possibility of theft sure doesn't deter them! Over the years I've found that the greatest danger of using expensive photo equipment (for me, that's anything over $100) is that I'll break it during a shoot. Fortunately, almost anything can be repaired--for a cost.
