I love that Ted!
Ted  you know what somebody told me once I found it quite profound!?!
Stop is really an abbreviation.
I think it was Mrs. Gaffney my 5th grade teacher.
Stop is short for:

You Stop Now.

I've always found that more profound then Dostoyevsky!
You
Stop
Now

We just read between the lines automatically.

As it's really:
You Stop your car now please, or you will get a ticket..
